A SEO dream version 1.0.a

Imagine a program that would list the title, language, description, key words, anchor text of links, and alt text argument of all images to all the web pages of a site. It would be very useful in communicating to a client what can be done to improve the site’s performance in search engines.

Dream no longer! Version 1.0.a is here. Admittedly it won’t work for all sites. That’s why it has a modest version number.

SEO and images’ alt values

http://easyquestion.net/testing/imagetags2.php is a page I am writing on. It displays all the images on three web pages and each image’s alt value. The idea is that the user can edit or enter, in case it is empty, the desired alt value. The alt value is valuable for Google’s image search and may be valuable for the general search as well.

The program uses regular expressions to extract the image tags. I got some much needed help here.

As you can see, there is no Submit button, and the three web pages are hard coded, the program is far from finished. I just felt I had to jot this down here since I am sure I will forget about this idea in two weeks time or so.

People who have web sites for commercial reasons are preoccupied with how their sites do on Google. For some reason they all want to be number 1 on the search result list.

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and I have started to read about it to assist businesses in improving their Google results.
