I am a consultant in the data storage industry. When I quote data storage, I have found that rounding up or down to a nice clean number gives the impression that there’s probably room to budge from that number. When I factor in profit margin and leave the final numbers rounded to the nearest dollar if at all, the impression given is that this is the true “best and final” price.
